A Day In Munich

· 2 min read ·

Well what a crazy whirlwind of Ljubljana and Slovenian loveliness the past few weeks have been!

It’s hard to believe that we’re on the go to our next destination - spending quality time in Zurich with our friend Hue! (And seeing so many other good friends between Lucerne and Zurich 😁) Looking forward to our time in Switzerland and showing Sheila what a joy it is to play in the mountains there.

Yesterday, we said our (temporary!) goodbyes to Špela and buckled up with our friends Micah and Lacey, who were gracious enough to let us tag along on their drive to Munich. They just spent the past two weeks on a climbing trip in Croatia and it was awesome to see them both as their trip began and now at the very end. The drive ended up being … pretty long! Lacey and I split the driving but after three hours of bumper to bumper traffic I had to tag out. What should have been a four-ish hour drive took us a bit more than seven! 😅

Still, we were lucky enough to get to the Marienplatz before sunset and admire the city center. We walked around a bit, found a cool place serving veggie burgers, then headed to the Hofbraushaus for a nightcap.

Sunday nights in Munich are blissfully silent. We marveled at the stars as we walked back to our AirBnB, and saw some really cool architecture - we need to do a lot of reading on Munich, but it was also interesting to walk around and randomly run into so many monuments, like the Feldherrnhalle (Field Marshal’s Hall)!

Today, we took a walk in the morning and somehow ended back up at the Marienplatz, where we enjoyed a starter breakfast, but the real joy came at “brunch” when we stumbled across Frisch Futter, a vegetarian place with amazing veggie bowls and snacks. The Buddha Bowl and Wellness Bowl both brought us back to life - would recommend to a friend!

Now it’s off to the bus terminal and our ride to Zurich. Till next time! 👋 We will leave you with a parting photo of Špela and our group pic with Lacey and Micah after our marathon voyage:
